Southern University Athletic Foundation officially announced that they will be launching a new rugby program at Southern University of Baton Rouge. The press release stated that this program will be raising funds to not only support operations but also allow accepting funds for individuals interested in creating active scholarships for players.
The Director of Rugby and head coach for Southern University Rugby program will be led by Army veteran and former Arkansas State rugby player, Isaiah Washington.

Southern University is one of the oldest historically black colleges and universities in the country at 147 years old. It is well known for its academic excellence and innovation, as well as its high-level athletic program. The Southern University Marching Band, also known as the “The Human Jukebox”, is one of the most recognized collegiate bands in the country.
