As we get closer to the HBCU Rugby Classic and Music Festival, you have to appreciate and understand the impact that rugby can have on a community. From the added option of another extra curricular activity for one to attach themselves to, all the way to the personal confidence that is developed for boys and girls from the community and in the way the play, rugby has the potential to make a big difference.
There is no place who is proving that point as obviously as Memphis Inner City Rugby program. So much so that Nike took the time to document the Freedom High School Girls Rugby team, as they completed a perfect rugby season in Tennessee winning the championships this past year. The Nike piece not only touches on the accomplishments on the pitch, but gives some insight into the background of the women who were playing the game.
This is the kind of exposure that rugby needs and deserves. Telling the stories of the players that you don’t realize as much. Giving greater depth to the effect of the rugby culture, as well as the rugby play.
