Happy Halloween weekend!!
We have another fun rugby weekend coming up. And you know it’s going to be even more hyped because this is Halloween weekend. If you haven’t experienced it before, rugby players, dressing in costumes and socializing go together like sweet potato pie and Patty Labelle.
Before you go out and celebrate or decide to not celebrate and just keep it chill for the weekend, here’s what’s happening in rugby to fill your time.
What's Happening This Weekend
Howard University Rugby Men will be heading to The Mount to take on Mt. Saint Mary’s this week. Mount St. Mary’s is a D1A Rugby East conference team.
This match will be the first in-state match that Howard Men play this year. It’s one that has actually been building up to become a bit of a rivalry. It’s particularly special for this team because men’s head coach, Tito Miranda, was a former player for The Mount, and his mentor still coaches there. So the student wanting to beat the teacher adds some extra fuel to the competition.
It will take place at Mt. Saint Mary’s in Emmitsburg, MD at 11 AM EST

Howard University Women’s Rugby will be taking on NOVA Women’s Rugby this week.
NOVA rugby is the D1 Club Women’s team based in Vienna, Virginia. NOVA Women’s Rugby has been a leader in the region for years. NOVA rugby is a regular championship-contending rugby team. They were the 2019 and 2022 D1 National Champions in rugby and were the runner-ups of the D1 National Championships in 2023. Needless to say, they are going to be a great team to learn from for this Howard Women’s team, as they look to earn a spot in the CRAA D2 National Championships again this year.
Howard Rugby Women will face NOVA and the B-Side will take on the Division 1 collegiate team, University of Virginia, at Charlottesville, VA.
I hope that you have a spooky and fun Halloween weekend. Look forward to updating you more on HBCU and Black College Rugby News.
