Who are we?
The HBCU Rugby Classic and Music Festival, is the premier rugby event featuring the best HBCU Rugby teams, while showcasing the combination of rugby tradition with the historically black college and university experience. The HBCU Rugby Classic is a cultural entertainment event, for sports fans and families of all ages, that puts a spotlight on community opportunity, empowerment, and positive messaging.

The 2023 HBCU Rugby Classic and Music Festival will be hosted by the prestigious Howard University at the famous William H. Greene Stadium.
historically black colleges and university rugby teams
HBCU Rugby programs are increasing in numbers every year. The first-ever HBCU rugby program was at Morehouse College in 2012. The first active HBCU women’s rugby program was at Prairie View A&M in 2020. Each of these teams has been featured at the HBCU Rugby Classic. As more teams develop, expect to see more of them showcased at the HBCU Rugby Classic

Music Festival
The Music Festival is the secret weapon of the HBCU Rugby Classic. It provides a platform to allow the language of the culture be spoken through music. From artists to marching band performances, the music festival sets the atmosphere for the HBCU Rugby Classic and allows spectators to create a deeper connection with rugby.
